View source for Comparison Pages And Why AI Models Love Them

What Not to Do About It Blocking Google's crawler to keep your content out of summaries also removes you from search results, which is a cure considerably worse than the disease. There is no partial opt out that preserves ranking while excluding you from the summary.

What Makes a Comparison Page Quotable Most vendor comparison pages are unusable, because they are arguments dressed as comparisons. Every row favours the publisher and the conclusion was written first, which is transparent to a reader and produces nothing a model can lift as an impartial claim.

The Objection, and the Answer to It Sales teams resist naming competitors and conceding anything, and the resistance is understandable. The counter is that the comparison is happening regardless, inside a model, using whichever sources it can find.

Prioritise by your own citation data rather than by prestige. A trade directory nobody has heard of that appears in half your category's answers is worth more attention than a well known publication that never gets cited. ai search visibility

Getting Into the Roundups Where a roundup already exists and omits you, most publishers will consider an addition if you make it easy. Send the specifics they need, in the format their existing entries use, without a pitch attached.

The sources column is the one people skip and the one that generates the actual work. It tells you which third party pages your category's answers are built from, which is a target list you did not have to guess at. [https://www.88pianists.com/ ai search visibility]

This is also why review volume and recency show up so consistently in what gets cited. A platform with forty recent accounts of working with you is more informative than your own page saying customers love you, and it is treated accordingly.

If the only comparisons available are written by competitors and by review sites with incomplete information about you, that is the version being used. Publishing an honest one puts a source into circulation that at least contains your figures stated correctly, and honest treatment of where you lose makes the rest of the page more credible rather than less.

Make Sure the Crawlers Can Actually Read You A surprising number of brands are invisible for the dullest possible reason. Their robots.txt blocks the crawlers that feed AI systems, or their content only appears after JavaScript executes, or their key pages sit behind a form.

Check which agents you allow, confirm your important pages render meaningful content without scripts, and make sure nothing critical is trapped in a PDF or an image. This is the cheapest work in the whole discipline and it is routinely skipped.

If your organic impressions held steady while clicks fell, you have probably met this already. An AI generated summary now sits above the results for a large share of informational queries, answers the question in place, and leaves the ten blue links below it with less to do.

A third response, attempting to manipulate the review platform, fails for mechanical as well as ethical reasons. Fabricated accounts tend to be uniform in language and timing, which is the pattern that gets discounted, and platforms enforce against it with increasing effectiveness.

The condition is that it has to be honest. A comparison where every row favours you is transparent to readers and produces nothing quotable as an impartial claim. Name real competitors, use concrete axes, and state plainly where somebody else is the better choice.

You Are Blocking the Crawlers The most common cause is also the least interesting. Your robots.txt disallows the user agents that feed AI systems, or a firewall rule is rejecting them, or a bot management product is serving them a challenge page they cannot pass.

It is also worth resisting the reflex to prune. Pages that lost their click frequently still earn citations, and a cited page keeps working at the moment somebody is deciding. Deleting a well written answer because its sessions fell removes you from the summary as well as from the results, which converts a partial loss into a total one.

One warning about testing. If you fix something and immediately re-run a prompt in the same session, the assistant may repeat its earlier answer from context rather than retrieving afresh. Start a new session, and run the prompt several times, before concluding that nothing changed. ai search visibility

Run a commercial prompt in almost any category and look at what gets cited. Review platforms, roundups and comparison sites appear first and most often, and the brands being discussed appear well down the list if at all.

There is almost always a specific, findable reason for this, and it is rarely that the model dislikes you. Here are the causes worth checking, roughly in the order that they tend to be responsible. ai search visibility

Then Measure Again, and Keep Measuring A single snapshot tells you very little. Assistants vary their answers between sessions, between accounts and between model versions, so one run is a sample and not a verdict. Re-run the same prompt set on a fixed schedule and watch the trend rather than any individual answer.
